National Jewels Treasury: Located inside the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the National Jewels Treasury houses the most wonderful collection of gemstones and jewelry in the world. The Crown Jewels of Iran have never before been available for examination and have been legendary in their own right.

Golestan PalaceGolestan Palace is the former royal Qajar complex and is one of the oldest historical monuments in the city. This palace of flowers is part of the group of royal buildings that were once enclosed within the city`s historic citadel.

Tehran Bazaar:Tehran Bazaar is reputed to be one of the largest in the world with stalls that sell everything you can think of. The bazaar district is big enough to accommodate a fire station, mosques, banks and guest houses. Shop at distinct corridors that have been formed by merchants selling similar products.

National Museum of Iran:This historical and archaeological museum is home to some of the oldest and most valuable Persian antiquities. This museum in central Tehran was opened in 1937. Modeled on a Sassanian palace, the building that is home to the pre-Islamic period collection has been designed by the world renowned French architect Andre Godard.

Passport & Visa Requirements

All nationals intending to visit Tehran must possess a passport valid for at least 6 months from the last day of travel.

Except transit passengers, nationals of all countries, including America, Britain, Australia, Canada and other EU countries need a visa to enter Tehran. Israel citizens or anyone with a passport containing an entry visa for Israel will not be permitted inside the country.

When to visit Tehran

The spring season with warm and pleasant climate is the best time to visit Tehran. It is rather cool in the city in autumn with infrequent rains. Ski lovers would love visiting Tehran from December to May.

Tehran Weather

Tehran has a continental climate that is largely determined by its geographical location. Summers in the city are hot and dry, whereas the winters are quite cold. The weather is pleasant and mild during autumn and spring. The annual precipitation is low with the majority of it occurring from late-autumn to mid-spring. The highest and lowest recorded temperatures in the city are 43 and -15 degree Celsius.

Currency and Language

Currency:Iranian rial (IRR) is the official currency of Iran. Though credit cards are accepted at many places, the most widely accepted mode of payment in Tehran is cash. Foreign currency can be exchanges at various banks and authorized currency exchangers.

Language:The most commonly spoken language in Tehran is Persian. There are about a dozen languages spoken in Iran, such as Turkic languages, Balochi, Kurdish and Arabic.
