Passport & Visa Requirements

All nationals must possess a valid passport before applying for a visa to South Korea.

Visa is not required by nationals of USA, Australia and EU countries for stays of up to 90 days. Exceptions being nationals of Italy and Portugal who may stay for up to 60 days, and nationals of Cyprus for 30 days.

When to visit Seoul

Spring and autumn are considered to be the perfect seasons to visit Seoul. The spring season from March to May is the best time to experience a bright, colorful and beautiful Seoul. The adventurous lot or ski lovers should visit Seoul during winter time. However, it is advised to best avoid the holiday period of July and August when most city attractions remain closed.

Seoul Weather

Seoul experiences a temperate climate with four distinct seasons with extreme differences in summer and winter temperatures. Summers are hot and humid with the average temperature rising to as high as 35 degree Celsius. Owing to the Siberian high-pressure zones, the winter temperature can drop as low as -13.7C. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant seasons with clear blue skies and a comfortable temperature. The city receives heavy rainfall with most of it falling between June and September.

Currency and Language

Currency:The official currency of South Korea is Won (KRW). Foreign currencies and traveler`s checks can be easily exchanged at bigger cities but can get a little difficult in smaller or rural cities. Credit cards are widely accepted in big hotels and departmental stores in Seoul.

Language:The official language of South Korea is Korean. The language gap can get quite challenging in Seoul if the traveler does not know basic Korean. However, English is now widely accepted in the hospitality and tourism industry.
