Passport & Visa Requirements

A valid passport, valid for 6 months from the date of travel, is required by all nationals who are desirous of visiting Turkey.

Nationals of most countries do not require a visa for stays up to 90 days, 60 days and 30 days, depending on the nationality of the visitor. Nationals of countries who do require a visa need not apply for one in their country. A multiple entry visa can be obtained from the Turkey border gates.

When to visit Istanbul

The spring season, from April to June, is the best time to visit Istanbul. Markets and city attractions might be closed on most of the religious holidays, so check the calendars for the months of Ramadan and other special festivals like Eid El Adha before you plan your trip to Istanbul.
