Passport & Visa Requirements

All nationals visiting Caracas are required to have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the intended date of departure. However, those visiting Caracas for tourist purposes can visit the city with a passport that is valid for at least 2 months.

A visa is not required by nationals of Ireland, US, UK, Australia, Canada, South Africa and New Zealand for stays of up to 90 days. However, the nationals of above stated countries do require a tourist entry card that is issued free of charge by the air carriers.

Caracas has a tropical climate with an abundance of rain. The dry season from December to April is the perfect time to visit this city. However, the famous falls of Caracas are best visited during the rainy season.

Summer and fall, from December to April, is the dry season in the city when travelers from all over the world throng Caracas. The city has an average day temperature of about 75 degree Fahrenheit with an average high of around 80 and 90 degree Fahrenheit.

Currency and Language

Currency:The unit of currency used in Caracas is the Bolivar Fuerte. US Dollars too are commonly used in the city. It is best for the travelers to carry traveler`s checks and cash in Dollars. Traveler`s checks and foreign currency can be exchanged at exchange bureaus, as well as some major hotels and banks.

Language:Spanish is the language that is spoken by the majority of population in Venezuela. Other foreign languages spoken by a select few in the country include Italian, Chinese, Catalan, Portuguese, English, Arabic and French.
