When to visit Bangkok

November to March is the time when almost all hotels in Bangkok report full occupancy, owing to the Christmas and New Year time. This is also the time when places of accommodation quote their highest rate, making it an expensive time to visit this city.

Since its warm and pleasant in Bangkok almost all the time, when to visit would largely depend on your personal preference.

Bangkok Weather

Bangkok has 3 main seasons:
Winter - November to March
Summer - Usually between April to June
Rainy season - Between July to October

In summers, the heat can be quite scorching and the temperatures might rise to a blazing 40C/105F. The months between July and October can be quite humid (up to 90%) with overcast sky for long spells. Cool breeze blow over Bangkok during the cool season when the travelers can enjoy a comfortable temperature of around 26C/80F.

Currency and Language

Currency:The Thai currency is known as Baht. Tourists can exchange currencies at various centers in city proper, as well as airports. Since airports offer lower rates, tourists prefer currency exchange in the city.

Language:The Thai language is the official and the most spoken language in Bangkok. However, the dialects of the same language exist in different regions.

Chinese, Malay, Lao Mon-Khmer are other languages that are spoken in Bangkok. English is restricted mostly to government and for business purposes. It is unlikely that the western tourists will find any trouble conversing with the locals as English is being taught in schools as second language.
