Lusaka, the capital and largest city of Zambia, is located in the southern part of the central plateau. Frequented by business and leisure tourists, the city is served by the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport. Initially acting as the hub of Zambian Airways, it handles more than a million travelers every year. Formerly Lusaka International Airport, it is located off the Great East Road, approximately 14 km by road, northeast of the central business district of Lusaka. A state-of-the-art facility, the airport is well equipped with all modern amenities. These include ATM machines and banks, currency exchangers, a post office, restaurants and bars, duty-free shops, pharmacy, newsagent and a VIP lounge. A tourist help desk and travel agent can also be found in the airport terminal building, along with a swanky business center. Right outside the airport, you can easily find public transport as well as cheap car hires.
